Cement Conclave 2020

Innovation is part of the DNA of Millennium Mams’ and the first ever online Cement Conclave was one of its kind in its forum. Millennium Mams’ were indeed delighted to host four corporate giants from the cement industry, Mr A.V Dharmakrishnan, CEO of Ramco Cements, Mr Nilesh Narwekar, CEO of JSW Cement, Mr. Mahendra Singhi, MD & CEO of Dalmia Cement (Bharat) Ltd and Mr Sanjay Mathur, Chief Special Initiatves Officer of Ultra Tech Cement Ltd.

They shared their thoughts on the prospects of the cement industry post-Covid in the short run as well as in the long run. They also spoke about the innovative and insightful journey of their respective companies with its growth plans.

A unique sector-specific cement conclave definitely helped in a deeper understanding of the same.

The Ramco Cements Limited (Formerly Madras Cements Limited) is a company of the Ramco Group, a business group based in Chennai, India.  It was an honour for the Millennium Mams’ to interact with Mr A.V Dharmakrishnan, CEO Ramco Cements. His journey from an Accounts officer to CEO at Ramco inspired the forum greatly and ignited a fire to work hard every day.  As the session progressed, Mr Dharmakrishnan shared his experiences and personal journey from growing up in a simple agricultural family to his Chartered Accountancy in the year 1981 and becoming the CEO at Ramco.  With the Majority of the Mams’ having a stake in Ramco, they were looking forward to knowing about the future of the cement industry and the growth path ahead from the multifaceted leader.  Along with sharing key insights on the intrinsic importance of securing your investment in the cement sector, Mr Dharmakrishnan also spoke about the world-class technology at Ramco, growth strategies and the buzzing cement sector.  The Mams’ were grateful to learn from the iconic Mr A.V Dharmakrishnan – the perfect example of corporate success! Mr. Mahendra Singhi
CEO, Dalmia Bharat Ltd.

Mr Mahendra Singhi, CEO of Dalmia Bharat Ltd., took out time for an informative and enriching session with the Mams’. Dalmia cement – has an 80-year-old legacy when it comes to cement production and has cemented its position in the market through strategic acquisitions and has a pan India presence today. With more than 41 years of experience, Mr Singhi, showed great excitement and positivity as he spoke in detail about macroeconomics, the Indian Cement sector and Dalmia Cements. He went on to express the importance of innovation, top-end research, sustainability and customer-centricity as important tools which help create great opportunities for businesses in the future. As the session progressed, it was interesting to know about the various sustainability initiatives Dalmia Bharat has taken to reduce its carbon footprint. Mr Singhi shared his vision of being a carbon-negative cement group by 2040 through energy-efficient operations. Along with the above, he enlightened the Millennium Mams’ forum about his views on GDP, fiscal deficit, future investments by the government and employment rates after the pandemic and taught the Mams’ that it is through Re-Focus, Re-Imagine, Re-Start and Re-Shape that one creates prodigious businesses.
